Panthers use rotation to stay fresh on defense (AP) - 10/06/2006 Source: Yahoo!, ESPN They lumber on and off the field, one 300-pound defensive lineman replacing another as part of the Carolina Panthers' seven-man rotation. The line is best known for former Pro Bowl selections Julius Peppers and Kris Jenkins, but its depth is keeping opposing team's offensive linemen gasping for air. "You look around the league and I don't see guys rotating as effectively as we do," said defensive... Fantasy Impact: This d-line rotation is also being used effectively in Philadelphia, and it is helping them continuously generate pressure. You should continue to use the Carolina defense every week, and Peppers should remain a starter in IDP leagues. |

Panthers 17, Jaguars 10 (AP) - 08/19/2006 Source: Yahoo!, ESPN David Garrard's worst game came at an inopportune time. It also ended whatever outside shot he had at supplanting starter Byron Leftwich. Jacksonville's backup quarterback mostly struggled with -- and against -- the starters Saturday night, fumbling three times, throwing an interception and getting sacked once in a 17-10 preseason loss to the Carolina Panthers. Fantasy Impact: Again the team played without Smith on offense, and again they performed admirably against a good defense. The defense performed at about their expected level, which is to say, dominant. Lower the risk on both sides, more on the defense. |
